According to Mercedes the new 2018 S Class – “the boundaries of automotive comfort have been refined and enhanced once again. With new developments in performance, intelligence and luxury, the new S-Class is the true embodiment of the best or nothing”.

Mercedes-Benz new 2018 S Class is being launched with new safety and comfort features, design changes and new engines.

Comfort revisions include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless phone charging, Multibeam LED headlights. The ‘base’ model S350d includes features such as keyless entry and start, a panoramic sunroof, digital television tuner, power closing doors and bootlid, a Burmester 13-speaker sound system, front seat heating and ventilation, head-up display, 360-degree camera and 19-inch alloy wheels.

Safety features include Active Braking Assist, Crosswind Assist, Evasive Steering Assist, Active Lane Change Assist, drowsiness protection and the occupant protection system PRE-SAFE.

As manufacturers move towards ‘autonomous cars’ the S-Class is available with active proximity control, active steer assist functions and can brake automatically for pedestrians and hazardous situations.

The S 350d has a 3.0 litre in line six cylinder diesel engine that produces 210kW and 600Nm.  The 400d L has the same engine as the 350d but it has been tweaked for output of 250kW and 700Nm.

The S 450 L has a 3.0 litre turbocharged V6 petrol engine that produces 270kW and 520Nm. The S 560 and S 560 L both have a new 4.0 litre bi-turbo V8 petrol engine that produces 345kW and 700Nm.

The AMG S 63 L has a 4.0 litre twin turbo V8 petrol engine that produces 450kW and 900Nm. The AMG has the sports car set up including Dynamic Select driving mode suite, carbon-composite brakes, sports suspension and red brake callipers and an AMG sports pedal cluster.

Finally the Maybach S 650 has a 6.0-litre bi-turbo V12 petrol engine producing 463kW and 1000Nm.
